About Zahn Du Plessis

Born in 1977, Zahn du Plessis was raised in South-Africa, lived in New-Zealand, Malaysia and currently in Germany. Self taught, she began painting at a very early age, however only started painting full time since 2015, having her first solo exhibition June 2016. Her main subjects are painting with acrylics and drawing, but has a great love for designing furniture, with recycling and origami methods as inspiration. Influenced by today's artists such as VOKA, she loves expresionism, but is more of a realistic painter herself. She believes art is a method of growth, searching true identity, of questioning your surroundings, conveying themes about human nature, society, compassion and nature itself .Her aim is to create an immediate emotional reaction with her art, whether it is only a portrait, or a painting with a message. With this specific design she wanted to portray the emotions of a woman, in a an abstract form of a woman figure. Colour is the essence for creating a certain mood in a room, so by using the same design, but changing the colour scheme, it changes the whole feel of a room.
